About intentions

Writer: AnastasiaAnastasia

First of all, happy 8th of March and Mother’s Day to whom it is relevant! Definitely a good topic to discuss, but next time.

Today I wanted to bring up the topic of intentions.

As I am taking driving lessons in the UK, I end up in interesting situations that make me think. Last week I was turning right on a crossroad in a learning car, so I was waiting for oncoming traffic to pass. Nothing special at all! But one guy decided to be nice and stopped in the middle of the green light, giving me way. Well, he confused everyone! And himself! So his intention was good, but the result – potential danger on the road. We all know where the good intentions pave the road to…

How often do similar situations with miscommunication and misunderstanding happen in life? Quite often I would say. And also, frequently we tend to think of bad intentions.

How this can be addressed? Try to look from different perspectives: What might another person think? What outcome do different people want? How “good” looks like? And if there is something missing – open communication can really help, there might have been a good intention behind.

What do you think?
